They're After Healthcare Workers, especially Nurses:
A pandemic regulation that would require flu shots for all hospital workers is moving through the regulatory process in New York State and is expected to be in place for this fall's influenza season.

The proposal on the agenda for the Codes Committee of the State Hospital Review and Planning Council (SHRPC) would apply to hospitals. A separate mandate for nursing home employees, requiring a statutory change, is under consideration in the State Legislature.

If approved, the regulation would apply to all New York personnel working in hospitals, diagnostic and treatment centers, certified home health agencies, long-term home health care programs, AIDS care programs, licensed home care services agencies, and hospices. The only exemption will be when the vaccine is medically contraindicated.

The New York State Nurses Association is revolting against these draconian measures. Call them and lend your support. Use their press release for your own state; the legislation will be moving across the country.

In fact, other hospital systems have been considering the same regulations. In February, 2009,  Cleveland, Ohio area hospital discussed similar requirements because "voluntary programs have not worked well", say proponents of mandatory vaccinations. Overall, only about 40 percent of health-care workers participate. In recent years, three professional infectious-disease groups have called for mandatory annual vaccinations for health-care workers.

In 2010, Ohio hospitals will be required to report the rate of flu vaccinations among all employees, even those not in direct-care jobs. The reporting rule comes from the Hospital Measures Advisory Council, created by a 2006 law, recommended that hospitals disclose common infections and whether facilities are vigilant about practices that reduce infection risk. The rule is expected to increase vaccination rates because hospitals will want to have high numbers.

The council did not discuss whether shots should be mandatory. "Could it be out there in our future? I suppose so," said Columbus Health Commissioner Dr. Teresa Long, a member of the advisory council.

NOTE: These discussions are occurring within every hospital system in the country.

Canadian Doctors and Nurses Fight Mandatory Vaccination:

Hospital workers are supposed to be first in line for the pandemic influenza vaccine. But that hinges on workers agreeing to take an unproven vaccine for an uncertain threat.

Across Canada, only about 50 per cent of health-care workers -- doctors and nursese -- opt for a flu shot each season, despite extensive efforts to persuade the entire work force to get vaccinated. And,any move by government to make inoculations mandatory is likely to be a "non-starter", said Dr. Perry Kendall, British Columbia's chief medical officer said.

He said it would encounter resistance from health-care workers and a possible legal challenge under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. "It will be an extraordinarily contentious thing." Read on

Note: American Healthcare workers, unite!
Note: Isn't interesting that doctors refuse the very shots they almost force you to take?

New Resource: VACCINE INFORMATION WEBINARS:

The new, powerful website, Medical Voices Vaccine Information Center, is bringing together the best doctors and most outspoken advocates against vaccines. Medical Voices will be presenting a series of twice-weekly webinars for vaccine information hosted by Dr Mayer Eisenstein and Dr Sherri Tenpenny. An impressive roster of speakers from around the world will discuss the important issues at hand.

On Monday night, August 3, I will be hosting Anne Daschel, Editor of Age of Autism. Her topic, "What the Press is Denying and You need to know." If you haven't heard these webinars you are missing a lot of GREAT information. Go to MedicalVoices.org and listen. They have been recorded.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY:

Vaccine makers and federal officials are in full swing, cutting deals and spending billions to vaccinate us.

When the 2009 H1N1 strain was isolated and identified as a novel influenza virus, work began to prepare a virus reference strain. In May, five companies ordered almost $1billion of viral antigen and "oil-in-water" vaccine antigen.

President Obama signed into law the Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2009 (Public Law 111-32) on June 24. Within the Act, the Congress appropriated $7.65 billion to the Department of Health and Human Services for the 2009-H1N1 influenza outbreak, including a $5.8 billion contingent appropriation for an influenza pandemic.

On July 13, 2009, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that the department committed an additional $884 million to purchase more supplies of two key ingredients -- vaccine antigen and oil-in-water adjuvatn to futher prepare for national vaccination.

Three days later, on July 16, Pres. Obama designated $1.825 billion of the contingent appropriation as emergency funds to support additional procurement of the oil-based adjuvant; immunization campaign planning; FDA activites and funding for the administration of an injury compensation program.

State and local health departments, and private providers are all under consideration as the system gears up to delivery 40,000-90,000 parcels per day. According to page 6 of this document, the President wants "the vaccination effort done safely and quickly."

With billions of dollars, thousands of man/woman-hours and massive reputations at stake, it looks like we are going to have a pandemic mass vaccination, whether or not we have a pandemic.
